Given the profession that I am in, I hardly get time for a relaxing vacation. Therefore, when I was given the option to spend a few days at a hill station in Shimla, I grabbed the opportunity. I had heard a lot about the green hills with peaks covered in snow and the colonial structures and was thus fascinated to visit the place.

Jet Airways Premiere Class-Just Like Being At Home

I booked my flight from Mumbai to Chandigarh with Jet Airways. The airline allows Premiere class passengers to carry 30 kilograms of baggage. However, I decided to travel light, both to reduce the amount of luggage and to enable me to carry it with me easily.

I have always loved space and comfort whenever I travel and Jet Airways provided just that and more. The extra-wide seats with good legroom helped me relax. Though not a foodie by nature, I positively enjoyed the fresh, hot food served on board the Premiere class.

I boarded the flight at 9.40 AM and reached Chandigarh at 12:00 PM, a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes. Since I did not want to await a bus to take me to Shimla, I pre-booked a cab online to pick me from the airport and take me to Shimla.

Shimla, A Hill-Station Abound In Greenery and Beauty

The travel from Chandigarh to Shimla took about four hours. I was not hungry; I ate enough in the flight to last me awhile. The travel made me fresh and alive and I was glad that I chose to take the road. The beautiful hills, fields and the smell of nature were quite relaxing and it made me appreciate the things that are natural.

Having made an extensive research on hotels near Mall Road Shimla, I chose the hotel that would best suit my purpose of getting a relaxing holiday. My search revealed several 4-star hotels such as Hotel Silverine, Hotel Willow Banks, Clarkes Hotel, Gulmarg Regency and finally, I settled for Hotel Combermere.

All of these hotels have all the amenities that a lodger would crave for- good interiors, clean rooms, 24-hour service, restaurants and swimming pools.

Pampered and well-attended to at Hotel Combermere

The hotel, located at the centre of Shimla, looks like a castle and of course, quite welcoming. I felt quite relaxed and pampered just by looking at the structure and the ambience. The hotel had several tables laid out for those customers, who preferred an open-sky dining.

The reception area was spectacularly lit and aesthetically done. I booked the Luxury room, which has all the amenities such as air condition, television, roll away bed, telephone, a safe for keeping my precious belongings and a luggage rack.

I positively loved the private bathroom with its rich fittings. The service staff were extremely friendly and service-oriented. The hotel staff brought food and beverages to my room whenever requested and they even provided some excellent location names for sight-seeing.

This fine hotel has its own restaurant, swimming pool, spa, gym, an indoor game area and a resto-bar. Overall, it was enjoyable stay and I fulfilled the very purpose of my visit- to relax and rejuvenate.
